Plantain

What it is
Plantain (Plantago major) is a hardy, unassuming broadleaf herb that grows wild across lawns, meadows and sidewalk cracks almost everywhere. Despite the name, it has nothing to do with the banana-like fruit. It has been a staple of folk skincare and herbal tradition for centuries, the leaf gardeners and hikers have long reached for. We slowly infuse the leaves into oil to carry their character into a balm.
Why we use it
Because itchy, reactive, bug-bitten skin asks for a botanical with a long track record, and plantain is exactly that. It is one of the signature rescue botanicals in our Skin Rescue balm, and a big part of what sets that formula apart from an ordinary moisturizing salve.
What it offers your skin
A traditional botanical for itchy, irritated and reactive-feeling skin. A time-honored companion for the moments after bug bites and contact irritation. A folk-skincare classic, thoughtfully infused.
