What it is

Vanilla and benzoin are both warm amber resins, often paired in perfumery for their cousin-like character. Vanilla absolute comes from cured vanilla orchid pods, while benzoin is the dried resin of the styrax tree, native to southeast Asia. Together they create a sweet, balsamic warmth that anchors floral and woody blends.

Why we use it

Because some formulas want the comfort of warm sweetness. We pair vanilla and benzoin in Rose Glow, Golden Hour, and Nightfall to add an evening-fire-and-cocoa quality to the rose and woods. They are the reason these balms smell so emotionally familiar, like something you remember even though you have not smelled it before.
