MCT Oil

The Ingredient Library · Botanical & Seed Oils

What it is

MCT stands for medium-chain triglyceride, a featherlight oil derived from coconut. Unlike regular coconut oil, MCT is liquid at all temperatures, virtually colorless, and almost odorless. The lightness comes from its molecular structure, which makes it one of the fastest-absorbing carrier oils on the planet.

Why we use it

Because we needed a carrier that would not leave hair greasy. Most plant oils that nourish skin also weigh down hair. MCT is the rare exception. Rich enough to deliver active botanicals to the scalp, light enough that hair does not feel coated. It is the quiet workhorse behind formulas that need to absorb fully and disappear.

What it offers your skin

A weightless, colorless, neutral carrier. A reliable absorbing partner for stronger botanicals. A coconut-derived oil that does not behave like coconut oil.
