Arrowroot Powder

What it is

Arrowroot is a starchy root native to the Caribbean and Central America, ground to a velvety powder so fine it feels like talc between your fingers. Unlike cornstarch, arrowroot is well-tolerated by sensitive skin and works in formulas designed for the most reactive faces. It has been used by indigenous communities for centuries on babies and on skin that needs a soft, dry finish.

Why we use it

Because tallow on its own can feel slightly waxy on warm summer skin. A small amount of arrowroot lifts the texture from buttery to whipped, gives the balms their soft, dry finish, and creates the slightly silky feel that customers describe as powder-soft. It is part of why our Radiant Hours body balms feel so different from straight tallow.

What it offers your skin

A silky, dry, almost-powder finish on whipped balms. A plant starch suitable for sensitive skin. The texture that transforms tallow from waxy to airy.
