Bentonite Clay

The Ingredient Library · Minerals & Clays

What it is

Bentonite is a soft mineral clay formed over ages from weathered volcanic ash. Fine, grey-green and faintly earthy, it has a long history in traditional skincare, especially wherever skin runs damp or oily. In a balm, a small amount changes the whole character of the finish.

Why we use it

Because a rescue balm shouldn't feel greasy. Bentonite gives our Skin Rescue balm its drier, more matte finish, which is exactly what you want on areas that tend to stay damp, and it helps the balm double as a targeted spot balm for blemish-prone skin.

What it offers your skin

A drier, less greasy, more matte finish. A mineral touch that feels at home on damp-prone or oily-prone areas. The quality that lets a rich balm work as a targeted spot treatment.
