What it is
Meadowfoam is a small, low-growing white flower native to the Pacific Northwest of North America. The seeds, harvested after the flowers fade, are cold-pressed to release a clear, faintly sweet, exceptionally stable oil. Its unique fatty acid profile is so unusual that nearly all of it is composed of long-chain fatty acids you do not find in most plant oils, which is part of why it behaves the way it does on skin.
Why we use it
For two reasons. Stability and staying power. Meadowfoam is one of the most oxidation-resistant plant oils we know, which means a formula built around it stays fresh longer in the jar and feels comfortable on skin without turning. And on skin, it forms a soft, breathable layer that holds moisture in place for hours, instead of evaporating away the way lighter oils can.
